Since Marietta’s founding in 1834, its rich history and heritage have been shaped through events such as: the burning of the courthouse by Sherman in 1864, the first brick laid to pave the square in 1917, the last trolley car run in 1946 and the refurbishing of the The Strand today. Through all the changes, the citizens of Marietta have been the glue exemplifying the spirit of family and community pride.
In an effort to continue and add to this dynamic, Marietta Grassroots is launching various community outreach programs; the first being the Marietta Grassroots Music Festival. Talent from the many diverse cultures now represented in our community will be selected to perform in the all day musical event promoting and encouraging the positive, small town, family atmosphere long present in Marietta.
So take this opportunity to support the community and show your hometown pride by joining us October 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on the Marietta Square for this uplifting and dynamic experience showcasing our local talent.
